Opportunity

1. Internship Programme on Biodiversity Conservation

Objective of the Programme: To inculcate scientific temper amongst young talent in the state of Assam and promote them to work for conservation of biodiversity. This program would enhance the understanding of the Interns about the present day challenges in promoting conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity and provide them opportunity to contribute in meeting those challenges.

Intake Capacity: 15 – 20. Time duration: Program is for 3 months.

This is with a view to allow the interested persons an opportunity to utilize their free time, for example, summer vacations / winter vacations / time between two semesters / time while preparing for competitive exams etc. and work productively in the field of biodiversity.

Eligibility Criteria: We are looking for graduates and post-graduates students in Life and allied sciences such as Geography, Anthropology, and even Mass communication students. Good computer skills (Word/Excel) are essential. The candidate should be able to speak, read and write English apart from the local language.

Those who are currently enrolled for Post Graduate Courses may apply through their Head of Department.

Age: Minimum age is 20 years, but not above 30 years.

Fellowship: Rs. 5,000/- pm + total contingency of Rs. 10,000/- towards field visits, documentation, preparation of final report etc. for entire duration.

Area of Work: The Interns can work in any part of Assam but will have to work in close association of the Board and this may require visits to the Board Office or interaction with Board Member or Expert at Guwahati or any other designated place as per the requirement of the work.

2. Biodiversity Research Associate Programme (BRAP):

Objective: To inculcate scientific temper amongst young talent in the state of Assam and promote them to work for conservation of biodiversity. This program would enhance the understanding of the Associate about the present day challenges in promoting conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity and provide them opportunity to contribute in meeting those challenges.

Time duration: Program is for short durations, maximum up to 6 months. This is with a view to allow the interested persons an opportunity to utilize their free time, for example, summer vacations / winter vacations / time between two semesters / time while preparing for competitive exams etc. and work productively in the field of biodiversity.

Associate Fellowship:

  1. 3 months Program (Rs. 5,000 to Rs. 8,000 pm depending upon qualification & experience+ total contingency of Rs. 10,000/- towards field visits, documentation etc.)
  2. 6 months Program (Rs. 5,000 to Rs. 8,000 pm depending upon qualification & experience+ total contingency of Rs. 20,000/- towards field visits, documentation etc.)

Area of Work: The Associate can work in any part of Assam but will have to work in close association of the Board and this may require visits to the Board Office or interaction with Board Member or Expert at Guwahati or any other designated place as per the requirement of the work.

  1. Awareness generation
  2. Capacity building of the BMCs
  3. Assistance in preparation of PBR
  4. Species based studies
  5. Identifying biodiversity concerns and prescribing management methods

3. Biodiversity Volunteer Initiative Programme (BVIP):

Biodiversity Volunteer Initiative: Encouraging voluntary contributions from freelance profession, amateurs, students in the form of published papers, publication, photographs etc and acknowledging contributions on website and publications of the Board.

Objective: To provide a common platform for collection, collation and dissemination of knowledge, expertise, experiences of environment and biodiversity lovers, activists and other concerned citizens so as to provide an extended knowledge base for the planners and executives and thus help in endeavors of biodiversity conservation in the State of Assam.

What can be Contributed: Photographs, Research Papers, Articles, News items etc. The Board will duly acknowledged the contributions.
